To A.E.Chadwick Clouds' Hill Moreton Dorset Dear Jock It reached me at 9P.M. on Saturday (last night); however it didn't matter. Letters here come 15 miles by road; though it's only three miles from a Rly Stn. However again...... I haven't a sidecar; expected three whole or two. So I can't provide transport. It will be joyful, though, to see your face again. Rly. Ticket equivalent is enclosed. If you come, don't bind yourself to any period of days. You may take this place (its "..." depth of - neliese for 30 hrs in the day); the books may be wrong, the food impossible. In that case you'd hop off. Otherwise..... Oh does this weather. Rain again. Points to be understood before firing, so to speak. (a) Cottage is 3⁄4 miles from Wool Station. Taxis abound. Tell Thes "..." you come without warning me) "Sanna Cottage on Cloud's Hill". Entry is made through the bath-room window on the ground floor at the back. (b) Cottage has no effective neighbours, & is 1 mile from camp. (c) Cottage has no kitchen. You can boil tea and boil eggs, if you collect fuel. (d) Fuel: is wood, & unlimited: also damp, blast it. However, it burns well. There is coal, also: but only a half-ton of it. (e) Food: is: bread: butter: jam: honey: reinforced by pot-ted things: & things in tins. Beastly I call it. (f) Food can be got in camp, at tea-shops like Blow's: usual sort of things; a push-bike is part of the furniture. (g) Weather is brisk: neither: wind &&& rain: rain & wind; wind; rain; & so on. (h) I'm on an armoured-car course. Employed fully from reveille till 4.30 p.m. Can get to cottage at 9 p.m. & stay till 8 p.m. or more: except Wed. afternoon.
