To Col. Perie Joyce, Mervue Galway 338171 A/C Eton 19. 3.29 F.A.C. Gattewater Plymouth. Dear Joyce Your letter came to me only this morning. They are sent on from Sarton Street seldom, & in batches. Plymouth is very far away: and there are no "long" week ends from this camp: only after duty Saturday till midnight Sunday. Perhaps in summer I may be able to ride up to London: occasionally. It is 250 miles through - six hard hours: and I am so old, & so cold, and so weary of meeting people. I wish we hibernated for five months of the twelve. I could make a good bear. How is Ireland? I dream of spending my next month's leave (Autumn, perhaps) partly there. Are there roads in Ireland, fit for motor-bikes? Do you work now? I am a kind of clerk now-a-days, "That a come-down" as Clemenceau said to the prime minister of Poland! My regards to Mrs. Joyce. Yours TEGLaw
