They tell me Pike is in difficulties. I'm sorrowful at that, not altogether unexpected, news. He is his greatest difficulty. It is a pity that so fine a workman should have two eyes.
So you too feel old sometimes? Here in Karachi I not merely feel old, but am old. And you want to create, whereas I've bust all my head's blood vessels in an abortive effort to create, and am condemned not to exert myself in future. What would you do in such a case? Say ha ha and blow your brains out? Too messy.
