Dear Lucas,
When I saw "Black Forest, for a fortnight" I said hip hip: that one gives me time to think what I really feel about his poems & want to write him decently.
Well, it hasn't. I've read in them every night, almost, since I got them into this camp. Twenty times through Proust; all but the Floral Death, and so far as I can, poem, because I haven't read another 20 times, equally in silence. I'm going to read them get detached - very subtle, very crying - lovely; but I can't worth repeating to you.
There: some day, perhaps, you'll get a proper letter about them; but I don't remember the fate of the Webster, which equally refused to let me talk about it. There's such a thing for criticism. Criticism in such cases would be a sort of pride.
Your dedication. Shaw is my only legal name, at present. So that rather than Lawrence, please: but I think the writer of the Seven Pillars is more appropriate, too recondite, probably. Also it's wrong to put the cherry stone above the monument.
I hope Germany was a pleasure. Cattew.ter is very good. I like the inside & the outside of camp.
Yours
T B S.
