Ideal Camp:
A level piece of clean desert,
about 50 yds wide and 100 yds long. It should
have the protection of rocks from
one quarter, from which the prevailing
wind generally blows, and if possible
a raised head (15 to 20 ft high)
at one end to fling back the blast.

At the extreme corner sheltered by
the rocks we pitch the Sheik's, or
red tent: the Biayut el Shaikh which
covers the sitting chamber of himself and his wives.
Against the high end: and up against that,
some yards from the rock face, the common
tent is ranged: Servants, slaves,
&c. making a solid barrier of tents on three sides.
