To: Dr. C. M. Doughty, Mo.
All Souls College,
Oxford.
Aug. 10.
Dear Mr. Doughty,
I saw Duckworth yesterday. He has been away
for a time, and that explains part of the delay. Also
he is trying to go ... into the forms. The first
offer was of 2300 to you for the ... on the edition
of 500 copies. The second offer was of ten per cent if
the sale "did well would be more, (nearer £400) if the sale
completed itself: but it may take years to sell the five
hundred copies, and in that case the cash offer would be
better.
Duckworth is writing again to Leo Warner, and
will let you hear as soon as it is definite.
I need hardly say I have no part in the business
side; I merely want the Arabs people in print again
at any price: of course you ought to make a fortune out
of it; but printing and binding are so dear now-a-days
that book-producing is getting difficult.
Yours sincerely,
T. E. Lawrence,
