Mount Batten
12. IX. 31.
Dear Flight-Lieutenant Beaufort@-Greenwood.
There is a complication just arisen over Machford's.
They were two brothers, and the better of them did the
work. The other is to carry on. They have had a lot
of yacht-outfitting this season, and have done well over
it; but they put the proceeds into machinery and shop
improvements, and they say the overwork was what did the
leading brother in.
I have seen three of their dinghies. There were good
boats, of the traditional type. They say his racing
dinghies were very good. The surviving brother is not
enterprising, but is honest, so they say.
Yours sincerely,
T. E. Shaw.
I got a measured 49 mi/ph out of my Miscyne Baby
this week, after overhauling her !
