Mount Batten 12. IX. 31. Dear Flight-Lieutenant Beaufort@-Greenwood. There is a complication just arisen over Machford's. They were two brothers, and the better of them did the work. The other is to carry on. They have had a lot of yacht-outfitting this season, and have done well over it; but they put the proceeds into machinery and shop improvements, and they say the overwork was what did the leading brother in. I have seen three of their dinghies. There were good boats, of the traditional type. They say his racing dinghies were very good.
