To Major General A. P. Wavell. Clouds' Hill Moreton Dorset 19. VII. 24 Dear Wavell I heard from Stirling, & marvel of marvels, have replied to him. This from a man who vows weekly to himself not to write another line ..... The map was a delightful thing ; sooner than I expected, & very very good. Will your patience find out a little more for me. I suppose its names are typed? Is it on zinc or on stone? Would they send me a pull of its last plate? Would they consider printing me a special edition of 200 copies of 2 parts of it. If so .. ...s of .. (i) I'd like a new black plate, or at least to re-edit the existing one, putting in my extra names, & leaving out, where concealed, those of theirs which I don't mention. (ii) I'd like to know if the xxx transferring would be done by photography or by transfer, since that would slight- ly affect my procedure. If they won't print it me, would they let me get it printed. It's the only map of Arabia. Very map, thanks indeed for sending it along. The book makes slow progress. Yours T.E.S. (Pencil Note, done by ?) W.O. will give permission on usual terms arranged with Stationary Office. Done by Ordnance Survey, Southampton. Map done by Helio-zincography.
