Dear Flight Lieutenant Beauforte-Greenwood,
Here is a copy of the report we have put together
on the S/29 engine, todate.
It seems to me a very sturdy little thing likely
to give us long service without needing any skilled hand-
ling or overmuch attention.
I would have liked to have drawn attention to its
possibilities as a water "Trojan", for the transport of
all officers under the rank of Squadron Leader. At
Ratton, for instance, it might do all Barbican runs, and
take Stores Officers to Dockyard. At Calshot it might
do all runs to Warsash for parties of less than six, and
ditto to Southampton. After all it is quicker than
anything in the Service bar the 800 & 150 class; and
cleaner than a Pinnace in bad weather.
Only for this sort of work some good for the
back seat would become a necessity. Not for Squadron
boats, of course, or for petrol boats, but for the Station
run-about.
Flight Lieutenant Norrington will tell you about
the Hyland Control, which looks formidable at first sight
and is dear, but may work all right. It mayo be ready by
