To H.Williamson
23.VII.29
Dear H.W.
I have orders to move to Calshot tomorrow-& the Italians are asking to have the race postponed? Such is life.
The last three weeks have been one great rush. I hope the Race isn't postponed,& that all the rush will be over by Sept 12. I want some peace; badly.
It was very pleasant to see you, & Mrs Williamson: I'm always a bit sorry for children. You've had a hell of a bad time: so'll ... I suppose.
The new place: don't be alarmed. I can sleep on the doorstep, & your food is luxury itself, after the R.A.F. In 48 hours we could tear ... pieces all contemporary books, & begin English literature with a new clean sheet!
In this camp one is always on duty; and I shan't be able to look at and listen to trees & running water at my leisure, with no whistles or parades to keep on interrupting.
There's an interesting book coming out next year: a life of Gaudier-Brzeska; the French sculptor: by Jim Ede, of the Tate Gallery. Good.
Yours
T.E.S.
