Dear H.W.
Another year gone, and us still wide apart, despite
one perfectly good Silver Eagle Alvis, and one
"rough" .. Truch.
I spend my days & nights working on motor boats,
still, and chase all round the English coast after them
or in them. Web-footed now, and qu..ck before meal
I have not written to anyone till tonight for months.
Now I have written sixteen letters. That is not corres-
pondence// but massacre, and I am ashamed.
Likewise I have read almost nothing: and only by the
..ic pile of letters awaiting re;ly can I guage how far i
lag behind human decency. As for books, there stand two
shelves of them. How can I ever get a free mind again.
As for writing books, myself: I have done one. "Hand-
209/ book to the Test"" Class of 27 ft. 6 ins; Fany Motor Boat".
30,000 words of the packiest stodge. It vill not be
included in my collected Works.
I hope you are not more penniless than the rest of
us: nor unhappy.
Yours
T B Shaw
