Dear Hayter
That's good news about Birsnahah. I hope it will
make up for your time and the next. A really decent little
place it was, and I'll grudge it to the jackals and white
ants.
Sorry you have lost Daphne. Is General Easton
holding out still? And still living in the a/c Cabin?
That brings the ......ents down to two... or have they
filled up your places?
We have daily hot water here now. So you see I
can still enjoy things.
A good gramophone has turned up for me. It runs
off the old gramo-engine, the an ..rchestra which has
got loose from its concert-hall. Decent though. I wish we
had had it at Birsnahah. We'd have put it in the Mess Deck
verandah, and heard the bars, all night.
Did the grass die? It was looking very ill when
I left. That was the last thing I noticed as we flew off.
An A.O.C. is to be here in 14 days. So you can
guess that we are not altogether happy. Ah well.
Tell Corpl. Easton, if he's yet there, that Mrs.
Easton is looking altogether herself, now. No signs of
damage from her "illn..."s". If"m ..king quite happy, up a
down the barbican, tell him. You want to get a good ride,
& fry it, & hide it in one of his b/d bases. It would
remind him of home, in a few days. All the same, I ..ke
Sutton Pool.
Very cold still: and life feels as if the spa... had
gone off.
Yours
T B D.
I hope the pink letters come regularly. I tried to
get some envelopes like it, to cheer you up, but was unlucky.
