To W. Lawrence Military Intelligence Office War Offi ce Cairo. 17.7.15 I got your letter re money, & was going to agree, for such a tie as J. remained unmarried. Today I hear from Father my trust would automatically expire in so only a very short time. So that that its likely to remain. I don't know what your feelings in the matter will be; you will however understand that you cannot well leave anything in such a manner to another man's wife. Your job - revolves practice sounds pleasant. We live in offices and in railway trains; also interviewing Turkish prisoners & supplying information on any subject that crops up. No civil work however and much map-drawing & geography, both of which please me. Frank's death was as you say a shock, because it was so unexpected. I don't think one can regret it overmuch, because it is a very good way to take, after all. The hugeness of this war has made one change one's perspective, I think, and I see one generally see details at all. We are a sort of Levantine Force - Officer, and can think of nothing else. I wonder when it will all end and peace follow? All the relief I get in the Greek anthology, Heredia, Morris & a few others? Do you? .N.
