To G. Brough
Plymouth.

Dear Mr Brough,
I'm highly amused at the sidecar T.T. news. It should be a glorious ride for your passenger, with an occasional bump, I suppose, as he passes over the "... Bridge! I wonder what the Air Ministry would say, if it was me? Are you allowed to supercharge, or will you trust to a straight 100?
One of the penalties of fame is that you mustn't lose. One is, you'll have to win it. Have you ever ridden the Isle of Man course? I faintly remember Dixon or somebody once taking a B.S. over it, for fun, one practice morning. I'd thoroughly enjoy the ride.
My front fork has not erupted since. It was a very freezing day, and I fancy that may have been the cause. There is no reason; so what came out was what your works put in!
I have written to Firth, and said the tank is the best I've struck.
Why fit a gear box at all, these days. We are on the edge of forgetting gears, I think.
Yours ever
T E Shaw.
