To Colonel R. Buxton.
Mount Batten
9.2.23
Dear Robin
A very decent fried of mine, (q/Capt.Mason of
Doniplate) retired from the RAF, lost his cash farming and
is broke. They were going to bankrupt him, but I said I
could manage £200 directly; and that has saved the
situation.
He says he wants the money paid direct to the Receiver
at Bristol. So I have sent him a cheque for £200, for him to
fill in the ... name. Will you please get me an overdraft
to meet this. Ted R. says I will arrange to satisfy the
account very soon: but must overdraw first.
No news here. Rotten weather, cold first & wet afterwards.
Everybody ill and miserable, except me.
Odyssey selling well in U.S.A. Four printings gone, to
date. Looks like netting me £600 by next settling day.Good
to plunder the Yanks.
Yours
T E.Shaw.
#So the cheque will have two writings on it.(J.H.R.
signature of course)
