To: Dr. C. M. Doughty.
10. XII. 22.
Dear Mr. Doughty,
Your last letter to me crept out of a pile of papers last night; and I cannot remember if I answered it. Many apologies if I didn't.
Yes, my leisure since I got away from the Colonial Office has been partly spent in an effort to abridge my mags of "wisdom": but I'm afraid the success has been very small. Arabia feels infinitely far away to me, and my interest in its affairs is an unwilling one.
I'm very sorry to hear that you have been ill - too ill to see poor little Abdullah. I wonder how he liked England. His visit was at an unhappy season, and I fear that he may not have obtained the results he was hoping for.
My regards to Mrs. Doughty. Please tell her that I may hope to visit you after Xmas.
Yours sincerely,
T. E. Lawrence.
