They found out I could read and write, so I have the log-books to look after : in spare time I sweep floors & fill up indents : clerk, office-boy, charman. Life is very good. So good that the Seven Pillars have lagged, while I play. Not yet have I reached the stars of fame. It is terrible to be so slow: my poor subscribers! However, The text was finished last week: index next month (March is devoted to Cape's abridged text, which is due by contract on March 31) may in May. As soon as that is ready I will go up to G.S.G.S. and talk sweetly to them about it. The W.O. map of which you have sent me two copies will suit me very well, when modified. Let's see. I promised you a plain text, didn't I? They will be coming along in a few weeks. Are you in Cranborne over Easter? I want to run down to Bovington, if I can square it here : and would like to drop in en route ...... supposing you were there. The book is being very well done, I think : typographically. If only the writing was up to standard. T.E.S.
