Dear Beaumont
Rolls' address is E.C. Rolls, Kinsley Park Garage,
Northampton. I believe he is doing quite well for him-
self. He deserves it, for he was a stout fellow.
No, I shall not be at Briddington this year, I think.
As a matter of fact, we started for it...four times! Four-
teen days ago...I had ... hopes of running straight through
in two days. But the winds would not have it,...after the
winds the fog came. They have got as far as Yarmouth...one more
fine day will get them there. Unfortunately I've been
recalled by train, to do the next lot of boats, now ready for
... running ... Hard luck.
There goes my yachting holiday at George's expense!
After March 12 next, I become a private person,... have the
honour (and difficulty) of paying for myself. If there is
any left over for travelling expenses, you will see me in
Darnsbury. ...as usual ... However, I find that my savings
are on the very short side. That sparks your question
about a fortune from my publishing!
One thing is certain,......, that if I do get to you,
I'll be able to claim those slippers. They...for help
with my tiny cottage in Dorsetshire, near Weymouth...Can you
fancy me in a long beard ... gaiters, talking about turnips.
By the way, its address ... (my permanent one, I hope)
is
Clouds Hill
Moreton
Dorset,
... is
...in a great heath, miles from anywhere.
Yours,
T.E.Shaw
