Dear Jock
I hate the idea of your doing such a journey for
only a day. The mere cost of it! They have indeed given
you a measly holiday.
Here I have no time-tables and cannot look up your
possible trains. Wool is no metropolis and Christmas is
wrecked. I think ... a Sunday on the line. Perhaps you
can find out. If the trains up and down are convenient,
then it might just be worth your while. It is distraction
for I had looked forward to a few nights of talking.
Don't bring your axe, anyhow. If you do come, let me
know the hour of arrival at Wool and I will meet you there.
With one.
The tenancy question of the Knowles' holding has been
as yet only mentioned between Pat and myself, but is down
[sic] for division during the Christmas period. I am concerned
to have the garden looked after, of course.
If you can't come I shall be sorry : but I beg you to
do nothing extravagant.
Yours
T.E.S.
